Quiet walks, without counting your steps
«Hushed hobbies» means quiet pastimes: walking slowly, looking around, stopping. Here are three, from an hour's stroll in town to half a day among the Etruscan tombs of Baratti.

Half a day · hills above the sea
Baratti and Populonia
In the archaeological park you walk among the mound tombs of the San Cerbone necropolis, the Grotte necropolis cut into the rock and the ancient quarries, then climb towards the acropolis of Populonia. The paths run through the woods with the sea below.
- Start: the park ticket office at Baratti, 20 minutes by car from the flats
- Ticket: there is a charge, opening times on parchivaldicornia.it
When to go
Spring and autumn are the right months: in May and October you can walk comfortably even at midday, and Baratti is less crowded. In summer go out early in the morning or after six.
