Rimigliano park, 6 km of free beach
From San Vincenzo towards Baratti the coast turns into a park: dunes, scrub, pines and oaks, and in front more than 6 km of free beach. From us it is 10 minutes by car and 20 by bike.

What the park is like
Between the road and the sea are the dunes, covered in scrub, and behind them the wood of pines and oaks. The park is open all year and you get around on foot only: cars stay outside.
The Via della Principessa cuts it in two along its whole length. The paths to the beach start from there, with wooden boardwalks over the dunes.
Loggerhead turtles nest on the dunes: the nests are fenced off and must not be touched.

It is almost all free: bring your own umbrella and water. There are showers, public toilets and picnic areas in the shade of the pines.
At the start of the park, on the town side, is Bau Beach, the dog beach.

From La Conchiglia to Buca delle Fate it is about 15 km of coast, nearly all sand. The number on the map is the one in the list.
La Conchiglia and Fosso delle Rozze
North of the harbour, Blue Flag 2026. Fine sand and shallow water; in front of Via del Capodoglio there is the Kids Beach, a free stretch for children aged 3 to 12.
The town beach
Below the seafront, south of the harbour: beach clubs and free stretches. It is the closest to us, 680 metres on foot.

The dog beach, where Rimigliano park begins. About 4.5 km, 10 minutes by car.

The Gulf of Baratti
Red sand and pine woods, below the Etruscan tombs of Populonia. 20 minutes by car.

A small cove between the rocks below Populonia: about twenty minutes on foot from the Il Reciso car park.

By bike and on foot
From the centre of San Vincenzo the cycle path heads south to the pine wood: from us it is about 5 km, some twenty minutes. It is the easiest ride in our family e-bike guide.
In the pine wood there is also a fitness trail for runners and anyone training.
In the shared areas on Via del Castelluccio there is a place for bikes: wash them after the ride, leave them there and charge your e-bikes.

Where is Rimigliano park?
In San Vincenzo, on the coast between the town and the Gulf of Baratti, along the Via della Principessa. From the flats it is 10 minutes by car.

Yes, almost all of it: more than 6 km of free beach, with showers and public toilets. In 2026 Rimigliano north and south have the Blue Flag.
Can you get to Rimigliano by bike?
Yes, from the centre of San Vincenzo there is the cycle path heading south. From us it is about 5 km, some twenty minutes.
Can you go to Rimigliano with a dog?
Yes, to Bau Beach, the dog beach at the start of the park. On the other beaches the town rules apply, and they change every summer.
Are there other parks by the sea nearby?
Further south, in Piombino, is the Sterpaia park, another coastal park of the Val di Cornia: from us it is 24.5 km, 25 minutes by car.
