Free beaches in San Vincenzo
There are free stretches in town too, between one beach club and the next, but the real free beach is Rimigliano: miles with no rows of umbrellas, you bring your own umbrella and pick your spot.
The entrances are along Via della Principessa, with car parks in the pine woods.
If you want your umbrella ready, at the beach clubs in town an umbrella with two sunbeds costs roughly 15 to 40 euros a day, depending on the spot and the month.

In San Vincenzo the seabed slopes gently almost everywhere: children can stand for quite a way out. That is why the paediatricians give it the Green Flag, every year since 2012.
With the little ones, the Conchiglia or a beach club in town is the better choice, with toilets, shade and the bar right there. Rimigliano is more beautiful, but it is a free beach: you bring your own shade and water.
A beach for dogs: the Bau Beach
South of the town, where the Rimigliano park begins, is the Bau Beach: a beach club with a stretch of sand set aside for dogs, which go off the lead and swim. There are showers and drinking fountains for the animals, and you book your spot on their website. From the flats it is about 4.5 km, 10 minutes by car.
On the other beaches the rules are set by the town's beach bylaw, which changes from year to year.
How far they are from the flats
Driving times without traffic, worked out on OpenStreetMap from our gate on Via del Castelluccio. In summer, on the Aurelia and towards Piombino, allow a bit more.
