Things to do in San Vincenzo, on foot from our gate
San Vincenzo is a seaside town on the Etruscan Coast, in the province of Livorno. You can walk round the centre in an hour: the tower, the harbour, the shopping street and the seafront. The rest of the day belongs to the beaches, miles of sand down to the Rimigliano park.
In short, if you have one day
In the morning, the beach: the town beach is 680 metres from us, or you go to Rimigliano, where the beach is free and there are pine woods behind it. In 2026 the Blue Flag went to Rimigliano north and south, the Spiaggia della Principessa and the stretch between the Conchiglia and the Fosso delle Rozze.
In the afternoon, when the sun drops, the Sailor walk: from the centre to the tower, down to the harbour and along the breakwater to the statue. It is two kilometres on foot.
In the evening you eat in the centre or at the harbour and walk back.

The old centre of San Vincenzo is small: four stops, all a quarter of an hour on foot from the flats.
The oldest part
The Tower of San Vincenzo
The Pisans built it in the thirteenth century to watch for ships along the coast. It stands on Via della Torre, above the harbour: from the centre you get there along Via Garibaldi.

The harbour and the Sailor statue
From the tower you go down to the marina, then walk along the breakwater to the Marinaio, the Sailor: a bronze statue 7 metres high, put there in 2010, looking out to sea.

The shopping street
Via Vittorio Emanuele II is the street of shops, bars and ice-cream parlours; on summer evenings it is full of people.

From the harbour southwards the promenade runs above the beach: good for a stroll after dinner or an early morning run.

The sea and the beaches
From the harbour southwards the coast is pale sand almost all the way, with beach clubs and free stretches in turn. The further south you go, the freer the beach: at Rimigliano there are no beach clubs, just the pine woods, the dunes and the wooden boardwalks down to the sand.
The seabed slopes gently, which is why Italian paediatricians have given San Vincenzo the Green Flag, their label for beaches that suit children, every year since 2012.

From La Conchiglia to Buca delle Fate it is about 15 km of coast, nearly all sand. The number on the map is the one in the list.
La Conchiglia and Fosso delle Rozze
North of the harbour, Blue Flag 2026. Fine sand and shallow water; in front of Via del Capodoglio there is the Kids Beach, a free stretch for children aged 3 to 12.
The town beach
Below the seafront, south of the harbour: beach clubs and free stretches. It is the closest to us, 680 metres on foot.
Bau Beach
The dog beach, where Rimigliano park begins. About 4.5 km, 10 minutes by car.
Rimigliano
Over 6 km of free beach, with dunes and pine woods behind. Blue Flag 2026.
The Gulf of Baratti
Red sand and pine woods, below the Etruscan tombs of Populonia. 20 minutes by car.
Buca delle Fate
A small cove between the rocks below Populonia: about twenty minutes on foot from the Il Reciso car park.

Things to do in San Vincenzo when it rains
Rainy days in summer are few, but they happen. These are all less than half an hour away by car.
The mine with the little train
At the San Silvestro mining park, above Campiglia, you go into the Temperino mine and ride through the Lanzi-Temperino tunnel on the miners' train. 8.5 km from here, 20 minutes by car.
The Venturina hot springs
The Calidario, in Venturina Terme, has an outdoor thermal pool at about 36 degrees in the middle: in light rain it is almost better. 9 km, a quarter of an hour.
Campiglia Marittima
The hill village above San Vincenzo: stone lanes and a few small shops. Under a grey sky it is nicer to walk than in the August sun. 9 km, a quarter of an hour.
Around San Vincenzo
San Vincenzo is halfway along the Etruscan Coast. To the north are Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, with the Viale dei Cipressi and the wineries; to the south the Gulf of Baratti and the Etruscan necropolis of Populonia; inland Campiglia and Suvereto. Piombino, where the ferries leave for Elba, is 35 minutes away.
The village of San Carlo, in the hills, is 5 km from the centre.

What is there to see in San Vincenzo?
The thirteenth-century Pisan tower, the marina with the Sailor statue on the breakwater, Via Vittorio Emanuele II and the seafront. Outside the centre, the Rimigliano park, with its free beach and pine woods.
Does San Vincenzo have an old town?
A small one: the tower and the streets between Via della Torre, Via Garibaldi and Via Vittorio Emanuele II, above the harbour. You can walk round it in an hour, Sailor walk included.
Does the sea in San Vincenzo have the Blue Flag?
Yes. In 2026 the Blue Flag goes to Rimigliano north and south, the Spiaggia della Principessa and the stretch between the Conchiglia and the Fosso delle Rozze. San Vincenzo has also had the paediatricians' Green Flag since 2012.
How far is the sea from the flats?
680 metres to the town beach, about ten minutes on foot. The harbour and the tower are 15 to 20 minutes away.
What is there to do in San Vincenzo in the evening?
Stroll round the centre and the harbour, eat in town, have an ice cream on the seafront. In mid-August Piazza Unità d'Italia hosts the Tuscany on Festival, with music and fireworks.
Do you need a car in San Vincenzo?
Not in town: the sea, the centre, the harbour and the station are all walkable from us. You need one for Bolgheri, Baratti, Populonia and the inland villages, which are between 15 and 30 minutes away.
